QUANTIFICATION SOFTWARE PerfusionWorks™

Advancing Fluorescence Guided Surgery through Quantification

Fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) has transformed intraoperative visualisation by enabling surgeons to assess tissue perfusion, blood flow and lymphatic anatomy in real time using Indocyanine Green (ICG).

QUANTIFICATION

Turning fluorescence into objective data

As fluorescence imaging becomes increasingly established across surgical specialties, attention is shifting beyond visualisation alone towards objective measurement.

Quantification represents the next step in the evolution of fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) – transforming fluorescence signals into measurable perfusion data that can support consistency, reproducibility and data-driven surgical assessment.

COMPLIANCE & CERTIFICATION

CE MDR Marked

PerfusionWorks™ Quantification Software has successfully received a positive  conformity assessment for CE marking under the European Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR). The software, authorised under MRD in 2026 has been developed in accordance with applicable medical device software standards and is progressing through the MDR certification process. PerfusionWorks™ quantification software is the only NIR quantification technology approved for us in real time during surgery.

MARKET & CLINICAL TRENDS

Why Quantification Now?

Fluorescence-guided surgery has become increasingly established across multiple surgical specialties, with growing clinical experience and widespread adoption of near-infrared imaging systems.

As the field matures, attention is increasingly focused not only on improving visualisation, but also on improving how fluorescence information is interpreted, measured and applied during surgery.

Advances in imaging technology, software analysis and computational capability now enable quantitative assessment to be integrated into the surgical workflow. At the same time, clinicians and researchers are seeking more objective, reproducible approaches that support standardisation across users, institutions and clinical studies.

Quantification represents the natural next step in the evolution of fluorescence-guided surgery—building on visual assessment by introducing measurable data that can support more consistent intraoperative evaluation.

QUANTIFIED FGS

The Future is Quantitative

Across healthcare, imaging technologies continue to evolve from subjective visual interpretation towards objective measurement and quantitative analysis.

The same evolution is now taking place in fluorescence-guided surgery. Researchers, clinicians and industry are increasingly recognising the value of technologies capable of providing:

PerfusionWorks is being developed to help provide:

  • Objective perfusion assessment
  • Reproducible measurements
  • Standardised imaging workflows
  • Quantitative biomarkers
  • Longitudinal data collection
  • Future AI-enabled decision support

PerfusionWorks has been developed with this future in mind.
